Momoyo Rin

Momoyo was born in Nagano, Japan.
Lived in France for her father’s work from age 9 to 11.
She entered Nihon University College of Art.
After graduation, she worked as a designer for 12 years.

Her pregnancy and childbirth led her to feel that motherhood, sensuality, rawness, holiness, life and death… which are recognized as different things by common sense, are fundamentally fused together.
The impulse to express these feelings drove her to begin her art activities.

After much trial and error, a series of objects made of wool and stockings were born.
These objects, which look like human skin, have blood and body temperature, and feel as if they are alive.
In her paintings, she focuses on how they exist in terms of space, boundary, three-dimentionary, light and shadows, and so on.
Even if the art process takes a long time, she works on it until she is satisfied with its completion.

林桃代は2022年に10年勤めていた会社を退職し、アート作品の制作を開始した。
妊娠出産をきっかけに「母性、官能性、生々しさ、神聖さ、生と死…など常識的には全く別物として認識されているものが根底では境界もなく融合している」と感じるようになり、そのことを表現したいという衝動に駆られたためだ。

試行錯誤の末、羊毛にストッキングを張ったオブジェのシリーズが生まれた。
人の肌のようなこの物体は血が通っていて体温があり、生きているように感じられる。
絵画作品「夢でみる母」は空間、境界、立体感、光と影…など『どのように存在しているか』に重点を置き制作。時間がかかっても納得がいくまで手を入れて完成させている。

林は制作する時、インスピレーションを素直に表現することを心がけている。頭でテーマを整理しすぎたり優劣をつけたりしているうちに、含まれていたニュアンスが削げ落ちてしまうからだ。

林が作品を通して伝えたいことは「全ては根底でつながっている」ということ。
全ての根底からこぼれた一雫が作品という形をとって生まれる。それは命の誕生に似ている。
